In order to advise you of your rights and responsibilities in a Family Law matter, it is helpful for you to bring certain documents to your consultation. Below is a list of the most often requested documents.
Any paperwork sent to you by the other party or their attorney.
When child support is involved, please bring with you (1) a copy of your last paycheck showing your year-to-date earnings; (2) your last tax return; (3) information showing the cost of the child’s health insurance; (4) the other party’s income, if available; and (5) the cost of day care.
If you have children with your current spouse, provide information showing your current spouse’s income. If you are paying child support, provide information about the amount you are paying for child support.
When Alimony is involved, please bring your last tax return; a list of your monthly expenses; and any information you have showing your spouse’s income.
Please bring a list of all property owned by you and your spouse and a list of all debts owed by you or your spouse. For all bank accounts, loans, credit cards, investment and retirement accounts, please bring a statement showing the current balance.
In some cases, additional information may be required before we can fully advise you about your rights and responsibilities.
